Let me be the first to welcome you to Location Rebel Academy officially!
I know how many different avenues you can use to learn how to build an online business. So, I do not take it lightly that you were willing to trust me enough to join our Academy and let me be your guide throughout this journey.
It's an honor and a privilege, and I promise to do my very best to give you every resource, tool, tactic, strategy, and bit of support I can to ensure your success.
This section will give you a few essential things you need to know before jumping in, taking care of a few housekeeping items, and making sure you know your way around as you navigate our course and community.
We have important things to do, so let's not waste time!
We know you probably just received a flurry of emails, so make sure you read through those carefully. We answer many questions about getting started and the forums in there.
But keep reading, and we'll give you more info on how to navigate the site and course.
And don't miss out on a video from Sean at the start of each module. It will give you an overview of what's to come and highlight key points.
Before you can jump into finding clients, you need to learn the basics. Understanding the fundamentals and not skipping ahead will help you build a much more sustainable approach to your business.
In this section, we'll start with the basics of freelance writing and then discuss what you need to do before you can start getting clients.
I know you probably want to get to writing, but this part is really valuable, and getting your ducks in a row first will make things a lot easier moving forward.
As always, don't forget to watch the video at the start of this section!
The #1 question every new freelancer has is how to find clients.
You need clients to make money, so it's pretty important. In this module, we're sharing our best tips for actually getting freelance writing clients. This part is all about taking action.
Seriously, consistent action can get you really far, and the sooner you take it, the better.
I won't sugarcoat it; marketing yourself isn't always fun. It can be difficult and, at times, downright demoralizing. But it's part of the process.
That's why we hammer marketing so hard throughout this course.
Trust us.
It isn't always sexy, but it's effective. And that's what matters!

Freelance writing is a business. And the sooner you can get into that business mindset, the better.
Approaching your work and clients from a business perspective helps in two key ways.
You look a lot more professional to potential clients.
You can save yourself from a lot of headaches dealing with bad clients or trying to get paid.
So, in this section, we're covering the business side of freelancing. While it may not be your primary focus at the start (like finding clients and making money), this part is also really important.
Because once you get a feel for potential red flags and how to communicate with clients, you're going to start really getting into a groove. There are tons of quality high, high-paying clients out there; this section shows you how to start identifying them.

Cold emails and LOIs will make up the vast majority of your marketing. But there are other places to get work.
In this section, we outline some of the most effective ways to find better, higher-paying clients. Don't just rely on cold emails and job boards; there are tons of places to look for clients.
We'll highlight a few of them and give you some strategies to succeed. When you're looking for work it's important to cast a wide net at first. Then, as you start getting bites, double down on the 2-3 outreach strategies that work the best.
As always, don't forget to watch the video at the start of this section!
Ok, you've made it through the meat of the course. Now, it's time to dig into the writing part.
You may be surprised we're getting to this at the end, but the reality is, as we've said before, the writing part is the smallest (and easiest) part of this business.
Of course, writing is important. But writing is also a skill you can learn. Anyone can become a good writer; it just takes practice and dedication.
And as you write more, and get more clients, the more comfortable and confident you'll be in your writing. So it's ok if what you write right now doesn't feel great, it's all about building that writing muscle, and this is how to do it.
As always, don't forget to watch the video at the start of this section!
